About Dr Mjoli

A highly trained surgeon with subspecialist colorectal expertise

Dr Mjoli is a highly trained general surgeon with subspecialist expertise in colorectal surgery. Originally from the Eastern Cape, he grew up in the former Transkei and has built a distinguished career dedicated to advanced surgical care and academic contribution.

He obtained his medical degree from the University of Transkei (now Walter Sisulu University) and went on to specialise as a general surgeon at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, qualifying in 2010. In 2012, he completed an advanced laparoscopic fellowship at the Academic Medical Centre at the University of Amsterdam, where he was awarded the SASES Laparoscopic Fellowship.

Dr Mjoli further subspecialised in surgical gastroenterology, with a focused interest in colorectal surgery, completing his training in 2014 alongside his Master of Medicine (MMed) in Surgery. He is committed to continuous professional development, ensuring patients receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based, and minimally invasive surgical care.

Specialist qualification — University of KwaZulu-Natal

Qualified as a specialist general surgeon at UKZN, establishing the foundation for his subspecialist surgical career.

2012

SASES Laparoscopic Fellowship — Amsterdam

Completed an advanced laparoscopic fellowship at the Academic Medical Centre, University of Amsterdam, and was awarded the SASES Laparoscopic Fellowship.

2014

MMed Surgery & Colorectal Subspecialisation

Completed his Master of Medicine in Surgery alongside focused subspecialist training in colorectal and surgical gastroenterology.

Served as a colorectal specialist at Grey's Hospital and as an honorary lecturer at UKZN, contributing to surgical training and laparoscopic development.
